Enterprise Man Surrenders After Six-Hour Armed Standoff

Enterprise, Ala. (WDNews) – A man wanted on multiple felony warrants was taken into custody early Friday morning after barricading himself inside a home near County Road 621 in Coffee County.

At around 3 a.m. on July 18, officers with the Enterprise Police Department, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and Coffee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to arrest Kenny Paul McLendon, who was wanted on two felony warrants from Enterprise and one from Coffee County.

Upon arrival, McLendon fled into the residence and locked himself in a bathroom with a firearm. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and its SWAT unit responded to assist with negotiations.

After nearly six hours of a tense standoff, McLendon surrendered peacefully. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Coffee County Jail.

Enterprise Police thanked multiple agencies for their assistance, including ALEA Troopers, ALEA SBI, the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, and Enterprise Rescue Inc.
