Luverne Woman Killed in Sunday Crash on U.S. 331

LUVERNE, Ala. (WDNews) – A two-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon has claimed the life of a Luverne woman and left another man injured.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the wreck occurred around 1:05 p.m. on July 13 near the 55-mile marker on U.S. Highway 331, about one mile north of Luverne.

Donna M. Tome, 58, was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima when her vehicle was hit by a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 43-year-old James T. Vann of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. Tome was taken to Crenshaw Community Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

A passenger in the Maxima, 36-year-old Shawn A. Greive of Luverne, was also injured in the crash. He was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. No additional details have been released at this time.
