Murder Trial Set For Former Alabama Basketball Player

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WDNews) –


The date for the capital murder trial for former Alabama basketball player, Darius Miles, is set for December 1, 2025.


Miles is charged with capital murder in the death of Jamea Jonae Harris, a 23-year-old.  She was shot and killed Jan. 15, 2023 near The Strip in Tuscaloosa.


Court documents say Miles admitted giving his co-defendant Michael Davis a gun just before the shooting. A jury found Davis guilty of capital murder on May 9, 2025, and he is serving life in prison.


The trial is expected to last a week, which was the length of Davis’s trial.

, Miles will not be facing the death penalty. However, he will face life in prison without parole.


Miles has been in jail without bond since the day of the shooting. He was also kicked off of the University of Alabama’s basketball team that same day.


According to ESPN, Miles played 53 games with Alabama.
