The Headland 12U All-Star Softball Team won the 2025 Alabama State Championship and will now play for the state starting on July 16 at the Diamond Youth Softball World Series in Tioga, Louisiana (WDNews).

The team’s remarkable season, which was based on skill, cooperation, and resiliency, was capped off by their undefeated run through a 12-team state tournament.

Coach Addison Rushing, who has been teaching for four years, remarked that these girls are easy to get along with, enjoyable, and very coachable. He went on to say, “I’m just really along for the ride,” pointing out how confidently the players control the field.

A large portion of this same group, who ended 2 2 in 2024, is making their second consecutive World Series appearance this year. According to Rushing, the experience has only strengthened them. These youngsters tend to get harder as things get rough, and they don’t accept no for an answer.

Coaches Addison Rushing, Joel Kibler, and Kraig Hester are in charge of the All-Star squad.

Members of the team include:

Kathryn Hester (#11), Emalyn Riley (#12), Lizzy Blankenship (#13), Ava Chase Pynes (#3), Klaire Shockey (#7), Kennedy Claire Birdsong (#8), Avery Kibler (#15), Kyleigh Bass (#16), Maddie Skipper (#21), and Adeline Rushing (#25).

On Monday, July 14 at 6 p.m., the City of Headland will hold a World Series Send-Off Celebration on the Square in Downtown Headland to commemorate the team’s accomplishment. The general public is encouraged to come and lend their support.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Jody Singleton wrote, “This team is dedicated, determined, and full of heart, embodying the spirit of Headland.” We can’t wait to support them as they represent Alabama in Tioga and are immensely proud of their achievements.

Let’s encourage these young heroes and give them the backing of the community.
