Covington County, Ala. (WDNews) Two persons, including a young woman from Headland, were killed in a sad two-vehicle incident Friday evening.
The collision occurred on June 27 at approximately 5:45 p.m. on County Road 70 close to Mary Williamson Road, approximately five miles northeast of Andalusia, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
According to troopers, Travis B. Duke, 37, of Andalusia, was operating a 2014 Dodge Charger when he struck a 2025 Kia K4 driven by Christy D. Shaw, 20, of Headland, head-on. Following the collision, the Kia crashed into a ditch and the Charger overturned.
Shaw and Duke were both declared dead at the spot despite not having seat belts on.
After being hurt, an 18-year-old passenger in the Kia was brought to a nearby hospital for medical attention. They have not been released from their predicament.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division troopers are still looking into the collision.
