Baldwin County, AL (WDNews) A big bundle of cocaine washed up on the Fort Morgan Peninsula, sparking an inquiry into a significant drug find.

About 110 pounds of cocaine, packaged into 50 individually wrapped kilograms, were discovered Thursday, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. After being secured, the bundle was brought to the Sheriff’s Investigations Command for additional examination.

The ongoing inquiry is being assisted by Homeland Security Investigations, which has been informed.

Noting that it’s common for other bundles to show up in these kinds of incidents, Sheriff Anthony Lowery is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any additional suspicious items.

The sheriff’s office issued a news release warning the public not to open bundles or shipments because they may contain harmful medicines or chemicals.
