Washington, D.C. (WDNews) — President Donald Trump said this week that a fresh 90-day extension is in place to complete negotiations to sell TikTok to a U.S.-approved buyer.

The president assured reporters that safeguarding the privacy of American customers is still of utmost importance.

White House news Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated at a news briefing on June 30 that these talks with China over the sale of TikTok have been happening on at the highest level and would go on.

Trump said on Sunday that although a buyer has been found, it is still unclear if the Chinese government has given its approval for the sale. The prospective buyer was not identified by officials.

Due of national security concerns, U.S. lawmakers and regulators have put pressure on TikTok, which is controlled by the Chinese business ByteDance. The administration wants to keep the app accessible in the United States but enforcing domestic control over user data from Americans.

Over the following three months, as negotiations continue, the White House is anticipated to provide further information.
