Dothan, AL. (WDNews) – Tammy Doerer, who runs the Enterprise Farmers Market, and Macey Cross, Miss Gulf Coast Watermelon, were interviewed by Wiregrass Daily News regarding this weekend’s Watermelon Day celebration in downtown Enterprise.
The public is welcome to attend the free event, which will be held at the Enterprise Farmers Market on Saturday, June 28 from 7 a.m. to noon. This dog-friendly and family-friendly event honors the Wiregrass’s top crop season and local producers.
Contest registration opens at 8 a.m., and the Biggest Watermelon, Watermelon Seed Spitting, Watermelon Rolling, and Watermelon Eating competitions start at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:00, respectively. Each competition has several age groups and cash prizes.
While supporting regional agriculture and the Enterprise farming community, attendees can take part in sports, celebratory activities, and the consumption of fresh fruit.
