After her husband, a suspected former Iranian Army sharpshooter, was arrested by ICE authorities over the weekend and is now facing deportation, a Blount County widow is begging for assistance (WDNews).
The Department of Homeland Security reports that 11 Iranian nationals, including Ribvar Karimi, were detained by federal officials in the wake of President Trump’s recent military attacks against Iran. Karimi is being kept in ICE custody pending removal proceedings, according to authorities, who claim he had an Iranian military ID in his hands.
According to reports, Karimi was a sniper in the Iranian Army from 2018 until 2021. In order to marry Morgan Karimi, a U.S. citizen and resident of Blount County who is currently 31 weeks pregnant, he traveled to the country in October on a K-1 fiancé visa.
Karimi never changed his status, according to DHS, which suggests that the couple either didn’t apply for a green card or didn’t get married in time. Morgan Karimi, however, claims it is untrue.
He legally entered the country on a K1 fiancé visa. In a Facebook post, she stated, “We did everything that was required of us and got married within the allotted ninety days.” We followed the book exactly.
In 2019, while playing Call of Duty Mobile, the couple connected online. They have been waiting for final immigration approvals since getting married in February. Karimi’s application was authorized in January of this year, according to screenshots that Morgan supplied.
In an effort to keep her family together, she is now requesting financial assistance to engage an immigration lawyer.
