DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) Southeast Alabama Community Theatre is kicking off its 2025 2026 season with more productions, more opportunities, and more ways to get involved than ever before.
The 52nd season of SEACT will include two student intensives, two studio productions, three Education Stage plays, two dramatic readings, and four Main Stage shows. Additionally, the organization offers summer camps, workshops, and classes all year round.
This season is a chance for people across the Wiregrass to volunteer, perform, and connect through community theatre, the organization stated.
Main Stage Highlights:
Shining Star (September 2025) A genuine story set in the American South served as the inspiration for Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s bluegrass musical.
The game begins in December 2025. A murder mystery comedy featuring actors caught in a real-life whodunit.
Annie(March 2026) The classic tale of an optimistic orphan in Depression-era New York.
April 2026’s The Glass Menagerie Tennessee Williams memory play exploring family and dreams.
Education Stage:
Juliette and Romeo (October 2025) A one-act youth version of Shakespeare s tragic love story.
Youth Edition of Anastasia (February 2026) A musical journey from Imperial Russia to 1920s Paris.
Newsies Jr. (June 2026) A high-energy show about young newspaper sellers fighting for fair treatment.
Student Intensives:
High School Musical 2 Jr. (July 25, 2025) Summer jobs and high school fun continue in this popular sequel.
A Charlie Brown Christmas(Dec. 2025) A 30-minute musical that follows the Peanuts gang discovering the meaning of Christmas.
SEACT Studio:
The BirdsA haunting look at social collapse, based on Daphne du Maurier s story.
Little WomenThe March sisters come to life in this Civil War-era family story.
Dramatic Readings:
RedA bold portrait of an artist struggling to create a masterpiece.
The Thanksgiving PlayA sharp comedy that satirizes cultural confusion during holiday celebrations.
Youth Programs:
SEACTwill again host TheatreFest 2025, a four-day youth festival filled with acting, singing, and real-world theatre skills. Summer camps in June and July will also give children a chance to experience the stage, with free public performances on Fridays.
Financial support from SEACT s annual membership drive helps cover costs for education, scholarships, costumes, and free shows for youth groups. Members who donate $75 or more receive benefits like early seating and program discounts.
