Alabama Becomes First State to Use Invisible Tech on Ballots

Montgomery, Ala. (WDNews) – Election security in Alabama is making significant progress.

All ballots in Alabama will have an invisible security mark that can only be detected with specialized technology starting with the 2026 election cycle, Secretary of State Wes Allen revealed.

Beginning with the 2026 General Election, the symbols will appear on all ballots after making their debut on absentee ballots during the 2026 Primary and Primary Runoff Elections. To maintain the integrity of the ballot, the emblem’s placement and design will vary with every election cycle.

According to Allen, the installation of this symbol system is raising the bar for election security in our state. I am proud to report that we have achieved the goal of implementing these ballot measures by the date of the 2026 election cycle.

In order to implement this degree of vote safety, Alabama is the only state in the US to collaborate with its ballot printing vendor. The sophisticated equipment required to identify the emblems will be provided to election officials in every county.

“It is my top priority to safeguard Alabama’s elections,” Allen continued. My team and I have led the country in election security breakthroughs, and I am immensely proud of the job we have done.
