Alabama Power recently held a Safe-T-Zone training event in Phenix City, Alabama (WDNews). During the event, 40 first responders from eight law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and emergency management agencies in the Wiregrass area engaged in practical electrical safety demonstrations.
Alabama Power line employees demonstrated the risks connected to overhead and subterranean electrical lines during the training. First responders received training on how to safely handle dangerous electrical situations, how to deal to downed power lines, and the dangers of pulling a meter during a home fire.
The goal of the Safe-T-Zone event is to educate emergency personnel on how to be safe at emergency scenes while electricity is present.
