Free Suicide Prevention Training Gauging Interest Across the Wiregrass

Published On:

DOTHAN, AL (WDNews) SpectraCare Health Systems is assessing community interest in holding a free training program on suicide prevention that will provide attendees the tools they need to save lives.

The two-day in-person training, which is a component of the Zero Suicide project, will include conversations, interactive simulations, and audiovisuals. Organizers are trying to gauge the number of people, companies, or organizations interested in attending before deciding on dates and venues.

The goal of the training is to teach participants how to properly intervene when someone may be having suicide thoughts. Additionally, participants will learn how to link people to necessary resources and develop safety strategies.

The course will examine how societal and personal perceptions of suicide can affect a person’s desire to ask for assistance and how that affects the kind of support they get.
