DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – The Houston County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to be on alert after a local citizen discovered a large quantity of illegal narcotics hidden inside a children’s stuffed toy.
On June 15, 2025, deputies responded to a report from a concerned resident who had just purchased a “Fuggler” — a stuffed toy from the “Funny Ugly Monster” collection — and found pills concealed inside the doll. The narcotics were identified as an illegal substance, though the exact type has not been released at this time.
Investigators believe the drugs were placed inside the toy before it was shipped to the retailer. Authorities are now warning that additional compromised toys may be in circulation.
“We’re asking anyone who has recently purchased a Fuggler toy, or received one as a gift, to contact their local law enforcement agency immediately so the item can be inspected,” the sheriff’s office said in a public statement.
For those residing in Houston County, law enforcement can be reached at 334-677-4808 to arrange for the toy to be safely dropped off or picked up.
Authorities say this appears to be an isolated incident at this time but are urging residents to exercise caution.
The investigation remains ongoing.
