PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WDNews)
— Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) marked a major milestone this weekend with the launch of a new nonstop flight to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA), coinciding with the airport’s 15th anniversary.
The inaugural flight departed Saturday and was celebrated with a traditional water cannon salute and gift bags for passengers aboard the nearly three-hour trip.
“It’s a huge travel destination for people leaving here, but also we are a destination here,” said Will Cramer, Vice Chair of the Airport Authority. “It’s nice to be able to take a direct flight and get there quickly, and to get home quickly.”
Direct weekend flights between ECP and LGA will continue throughout the summer, with expanded service during the Fourth of July holiday. Daily flights are scheduled to begin in November.
