City Urges Caution Over Unaffiliated Water Testing Kits

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews)

– Dothan officials are warning residents to be cautious if they receive unsolicited water testing kits or offers to test their water, stating these materials are not affiliated with the city or Dothan Utilities.

According to city officials, all water quality testing is conducted in compliance with strict regulations set by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These tests are carried out solely by trained Dothan Utilities staff or certified partners.

While some residents may occasionally be invited to participate in official water sampling, city leaders say those individuals are contacted directly and only through correspondence on official Dothan Utilities letterhead with clear contact information.

Annual water quality reports, which include testing results and any detected levels, are mailed to all customers each July. The latest report is also available online.

Residents with concerns or questions about water quality are encouraged to contact Dothan Utilities directly.
