COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Authorities are investigating after an inmate was found dead Saturday morning inside the Coffee County Jail.
According to a release from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Diquan Holloway was discovered unresponsive in his cell. Deputies and jail medical staff began CPR and contacted Enterprise Rescue, but Holloway was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has launched an investigation, which is standard protocol in inmate deaths. An autopsy will be conducted by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to determine the cause of death.
Holloway had been incarcerated at the Coffee County Jail since December 2024 on multiple charges, including drug trafficking, two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, fugitive from justice, and failure to appear.
