3 Men Jailed in Child Abuse Case Tied to Underground Bunker

According to investigators, a horrifying child sex ring operating out of an underground storm shelter near Brent, Bibb County, has led to the charging of three males with several felonies.

The investigation started in early February, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, when reports caused alarm. William Chase McElroy, Dalton Terrell, and Andres Trejo Velez were indicted by a grand jury by July 11. Six youngsters between the ages of three and 10 were allegedly enticed, sedated, and brought to the bunker for sexual assault, authorities found throughout the investigation. The men involved are thought to have paid to take part in the attacks.

According to Assistant District Attorney Bryan Jones, the bunker was furnished with mattresses, chairs, and other furnishings, and children were allegedly bound by beds, chairs, and poles prior to being attacked.

Among the charges are:

William Chase McElroy: six counts of human trafficking and sodomy, four counts of first-degree rape, and four counts of first-degree kidnapping.

Dalton Terrell is charged with five counts of human trafficking, twelve acts of sodomy, and six counts of first-degree rape.

There are six charges of first-degree human trafficking against Andres Trejo Velzquez.

Officials caution that the matter may get more involved. The ADA Jones pointed out that one more individual is already wanted and indicted, that there might be more victims, and that more arrests are probably coming.

Sheriff Jody Wade declared, “We will not tolerate these crimes in Bibb County.” The full power of the law will be applied to all violators.

Any conviction involving a child aged six or under carries a life sentence without the possibility of release under Alabama law.

The Alabama Department of Human Resources and the Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center, which expressed its profound sadness over the case and promised ongoing help, are currently caring for the six victims.

All three defendants are still in custody without posting bail. It is recommended that anyone with information call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 205 926 4683.
