Texas Athletics announced its 2025 Sal n de Honor members on July 23. The group is made up of five men and five women who competed in UT across various programs and time periods.
According to the Texas Longhorns in Texas, El Sal n de Honor honors former athletes, coaches, and staff that excel and leave a lasting legacy, such as Texas lingo. These are some of the accomplishments of some of the new members of this exclusive club:
(Nataci n y Clavados, 1998-2001) Nate Dusing
One of the key players on the teams that won the NCAA championship in 2000–01, Dusing was the NCAA’s 2001 A-list player and the nine-time association relevants champion. Dusing has been an Olympic athlete on two occasions, winning a silver medal in the Sydney 2000 Games and a bronze medal at the Atenas 2004 Games, where he was a member of the Team USA’s freestyle relevo teams.
Eckerman, Haley (Voleibol, 2011–14)
Eckerman was a two-time Jugadora Nacional del A o during his time in Utah. occupies the fifth position among all Texas time periods in points and remates totaled, finishing among the top ten in each of the six categories as states. During his four games in Austin, Eckerman led the Longhorns to a 108-15 victory along with the program’s third national championship in 2012.
Gilmore, Nicole Devonish (Atlet SMO, 1994-97)
Gilmore has eight individual titles from the conference in Texas, bringing the female team to four consecutive championships of the open-air conference and three championships of the closed-air conference. (Baloncesto, 2001-04) Royal Ivey
Ivey was the guardian titular in each of his four appearances as Longhorn, making him the most successful of all time with 126 appearances as a title in his career. After playing for four franchises for ten seasons in the NBA, Ivey retired in 2014 and stopped being an entertainer. He is currently the head coach of the South and South-West national team, leading the nation in his first appearance in the men’s basketball league at the 2024 Paris Games, and serving as an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets.
Tiffany Jackson (2004-07 Baloncesto)
Jackson is the first player in Texas’s female basketball history to reach 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 robos, and 150 tapones. She is also one of the three players in the program to have been named All-America three times. After graduating from UT, Jackson scored 12 points in the professional basketball league, and after being selected in the fifth round of the 2007 draft, he had nine in the WNBA. Jackson passed away from cancer in 2022, but his legacy will live on thanks to the Tiffany Jackson Memorial, which is held in her honor by one or more WNBA teams.
Rodrique Wright (American football, 2002–05)
During the four-and-a-half games with the Longhorns, Wright was the team’s captain, starting 45 of the 50 games the university played. His career in Texas ended with a victory in the 2005 national championship, during which he also made it to the finals of the Lombardi Award and was named a senior member of the first All-America team. Wright was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft and played professional American football for five years before turning into an entertainer. He is currently the third-string defensive player for the Houston Texans, the team from his hometown.
Kyle Russell (Bisbol, 2006-08), Bobby Mitchell (American football, 1968-70), Nancy Ledbetter Ramsbottom (Golf, 1981-84), and Kirsten Wengler Burton (Nataci n y Clavados, 1983-86) are the other members of the 2025 generation.
These decorated former Texas students were given the Sal n de Honor during a ceremony held on September 12 at the Auditorium Lady Bird Johnson.
