Yuli Gurriel started as the sixth batter and first baseman in Game 5 of the 2022 World Series between his Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
The man from Sancti Spiritus broke a positive streak of 48 consecutive at-bats without receiving a strikeout in the current postseason. Later, in the 7th inning, he led off with his 6th World Series double.
First baseman Rhys Hoskins put him out and on the play the Cuban slipped. He apparently left with discomfort accompanied by doctors.
The forecasts seemed favorable when he came out to defend in the bottom of the seventh. However, in the top of the eighth Trey Mancini came in to bat for the 38-year-old first baseman.
It is not yet known exactly to what extent the inconvenience may have. We will be reporting later on new updates.
