Yuli Gurriel BROKE streak in the 2022 postseason – SwingComplete

The Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies meet at Citizens Bank Park as part of Game 5 of the World Series on Thursday night, November 3.

In his first at-bat tonight he extended the streak to 48 when he missed a foul fly catch by catcher JT Realmuto. Thus he tied the 4th best record of all time in the playoffs held by himself when he stringed 48 at-bats without strikeouts in 2019.

In the upper part of the 4th inning, the man from Sancti Spiritus had another opportunity at bat, this time against reliever Connor Brogdon. Gurriel struck out throwing on strike three, a 95-mph fastball inside.

The record for the longest streak without being retired by way of strikes in the postseason belongs to Joey Cora with 51 in 1995. The Cuban Gurriel was again three away from tying it. Obviously Yulieski is the only one with two runs of 48 in history.
