Jazz bassist Mathias Shandai died tragically, the Hungarian Jazz Association reported on its Facebook page. He started playing in various jazz bands at the age of sixteen and graduated from the Academy of Music in 2004 as a student of Gergely Yardani. He was a member of the quartet Csaba Chiryak, Tuzko Csaba Sheptett and the group Balazs Elemer. Since 1996 he has played in the Mihaly Dresch Quartet and has worked with the Bacho-Christof Quartet, Victor Toth Tersett, the Daniel Szabo Trio, the Olach Kalman Sextet and the András Des Trio.
