Woman Shot by California Highway Patrol Officer After Allegedly Approaching With Knife on 71 Freeway

On Friday, a California Highway Patrol officer shot a woman near the 71 Motorway in Chino, causing all northbound lanes to be closed for several hours.

According to the CHP, the incident occurred at approximately 11:28 a.m. on the right shoulder of the off-ramp near Butterfield Ranch. A woman, whom the CHP describes as a pedestrian, was allegedly armed with a knife at the time.

The CHP stated that the lady approached the officer with the knife before the shooting.

The CHP claimed the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. The cop shot the woman once.

No cops were hurt.

All northbound lanes of the 71 were closed until approximately 5:15 p.m. One lane had opened around 5:30 p.m.

The on-ramp from Euclid to the northbound lanes was also closed about 5:30 p.m.
