Selena Gomez has recently opened up to talk about his mental health and the issues he’s had throughout his career to promote his documentary My Mind and Me. The tape shows the singer as fans have never seen her, and is available from the past Friday, November 4 on Apple TV+.
Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me follow the actress and singer Selena Gomez for six years of his life as of 2015. In an interview with Vulture in 2022, Gomez explained that the documentary was originally going to follow her 2016 Revival Tour before focusing on her journey with her mental health.
“It wasn’t good. That is actually the only answer. It wasn’t right and I couldn’t go on. I had to pay off what I needed to pay off in order to live,” Gomez said of the change.
Gomez also told Vulture that she didn’t plan to be as open about her mental health until her and director Alek Keshishian’s trip to Kenya in 2019, where he realized how universal mental health was. “Alek and I had an amazing time with all the people there. It was a moment where we both thought, “We’re so lucky and we’re so lucky to be in our position.” And we realized that People all over the world are dealing with the same thing: their mind. Your mind is everything. It is what provides your body, your soul. Once we had all the images, I fully believed that this was going to be something bigger than me,” she said.
