Ubisoft announces Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution

Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution has been officially announced. Ubisoft is betting everything it has on the new title in the franchise.

Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution, starring Giancarlo Esposito, the actor behind the villain in Far Cry 6, has been announced by Ubisoft. Its premiere is scheduled for February 2023. Although the name may suggest that it is a DLC for the sixth installment or an independent spin-off, the truth is that it is not. Rather, this title is a kind of prequel in Audible format.

A narrative surprise in podcast format

Considering that it is a prequel and that it stars the villain of Far Cry 6, it could be when Antón Castillo (Giancarlo Esposito) took over the leadership of Yara. It could also be about the great moment of his rule, since he was not always unpopular with the people of the mainland. However, the title Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution suggests that it will recount the events leading up to the revolution, that is, the game. In any case, it is unlikely that the game’s protagonist, Dani Rojas, will appear. However, other characters from the game, such as Clara Garcia, should appear.

Far Cry 6 is not the most beloved game in the saga. Although it seems that it has sold enough in spite of everything. In fact, many consider it, along with New Dawn and Primal, to be one of the weakest points in the series. And this is so for several reasons. For example, tired characters, irrelevant story that doesn’t use its villain, and outdated game loop and world design. The game also introduced some controversial changes, such as the replacement of first-person scenes with third-person ones. That is why it is surprising that Ubisoft continues to develop products linked to it, as is the case with Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution.
