The authorities are looking tonight for a group of 47 people who were left adrift in a boat near the coast of Samaná.

The information was published on the Twitter account of the 9-1-1 Emergency Attention System, where it is indicated that the Civil Defense, the Dominican Republic Air Force, whose aircraft are equipped with FLIR technology, participate in the search operation. to detect people in the dark, the Navy and the 9-1-1 drone team.

“We report that since the afternoon of this Friday we have coordinated the rescue of a boat with approximately 47 people that was left adrift on the coast of Samaná, near Miches, El Seibo province,” the information indicates.

On the scene there are also units of the National Health Service, the National Police and the Miches Fire Department.

“We inform the families of those affected that we are doing our best to ensure that the rescue concludes successfully,” says 9-1-1 on its page.

At dawn last Wednesday another boat capsized with at least 41 people, of which eight were found dead yesterday, 23 were rescued and another 10 are missing.

Five of the bodies were buried this Friday in the Arenoso community, Duarte province, amid the pain over the loss of their loved ones.
