The Vietnamese Buddhist sangha in Ho Chi Minh speaks out about people wearing legal uniforms in pubs.

On July 24, a source said that the Go Wap District Police (GKMP) is gathering case files about a scandal that took place in a pub in the area.

Accordingly, on the evening of 22 July, the police inspected a pub in the 17th division of Go Wap district and took many people to the doping control headquarters, including Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuc (SN 1983, resident of Cu Chi district). Mr. Fook tested positive for drugs, so he was sent home.

Significantly, Mr. Fook, wearing a yellow formal uniform, showed up at the pub, sparking public outrage. In this regard, the Vietnamese Buddhist sangha in Ho Chi Minh City spoke out.

Speaking to Nguoi Lao Dong, Venerable Thich Tam Hai, head of information and communications at the Vietnamese Buddhist Church in Ho Chi Minh City, confirmed: “Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuc, who calls himself Venerable Thich Tam Phuc, is not a Buddhist monk. Buddhist Sangha in the Cu Chi area.

According to the Venerable Thich Tam Hai, the Cu Chi District People’s Committee once called a meeting to consider the case, with representatives from many departments such as the police, the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Culture and Information, etc.

By checking the documents confirming that he is a monk, the appointment decision of Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuc with the signatures of the Honorable Chairman of the Executive Council, the Honorable Head of the Central Committee for the Sangha, the seal of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha issued to Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuc was made and forged by Mr. Phuc himself.

Medals, medals, and certificates of honor from state and government leaders have also been confirmed by the authorities to be fakes by Mr. Fuca himself.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuc’s case has since 2014 been confirmed by Venerable Thich Tran Tin, Abbot of Hoang Phap Pagoda (Hok Mon District) that he is not a monk at Hoang Phap Pagoda, and has been widely publicized.

Authorities also said that state-level awards given to individuals and groups by Nguyen Minh Phuc are not on the list of awards held by the Imitation and Promotion Council.
