No. 44 of the WTA rating met Ukrainian Marta Kostyukova at the Mubadala Citi DC Open tournament and the match started well for her, winning the first set with a score of 6:2. Although the Canadian did not cope with the second set and lost to her opponent 3:6, everything was still open.
But what followed was something that was rarely seen on the tennis courts. With the score 2:2, 0:30 in the third set on Andreescu’s serve, the fan celebrated the Canadian’s double fault with a loud shout “out”. Andreescu clearly didn’t like this and yelled at the fan to “shut up” twice, after which this year’s Wimbledon participant refused to continue the fight until the fan was removed.

The Empire judge then asked security to remove the fan, which was followed by applause from the rest of the audience. The young Canadian lost in the tie-break of the third set 5:7, so she will not remember that match with a smile on her face, even by the results.
