Cuba woke up this Saturday with the good news of not reporting any deaths from COVID-19: the first zero in seven months of mourning the death of several thousand Cubans.
From March 2020 to November 13, 2021, 8,279 people had lost their lives on the Island as a direct consequence of the pandemic, as stated in the Temporary Group headed by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic. , Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
“This consolidates us, once again, that we are controlling the epidemic,” said the president from the Palace of the Revolution, also referring to the 293 new cases of this day, one of the lowest figures registered in the nation since the month from January.
At the meeting – which links through videoconference to all the country’s territories and is directed by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz – it was announced that in the last fifteen days all the provinces decreased their incidence rate of the disease per 100,000 inhabitants, although Sancti Spíritus (244.4), Camagüey (198.5) and Holguín (124.5) keep this important indicator high.
The Deputy Minister of Public Health, Carilda Peña García, referred to the decrease in patients confirmed with the virus: 244 less from one day to the next, with which only 1,801 positive for SARS-CoV-2 remain admitted. Thus, the number of people recovered from the disease in Cuba was set at 948 253 (98.9%).
In the intensive care rooms, 15 critically ill patients and 41 seriously ill as a result of COVID-19 were treated, figures that also decreased after experiencing very tense moments with more than 300 patients in extreme health situation just over a month ago .
