SsangYong is the oldest car manufacturer in South Korea. The company was founded back in 1954 and was originally called Ha Dong-Hwan Motor Workshop. I made this clarification for those who are under the impression that perhaps Hyundai, Kia or Daewoo or Samsung, why not, were the first car manufacturers in South Korea. Finally, in the current circumstances, this information is less important, since what matters most now is what models each of them offers. The SsangYong lineup available today in Romania has just been expanded with the Torres SUV, which thus keeps pace with the Tivoli, Tivoli Grand, Korando, Korando e-Motion, Rexton and Musso Grand.
Under the hood of SsangYong Torres is the same well-known South Korean gasoline engine – 1.5 GDi Turbo, with a capacity of 163 hp. in the range from 5000 to 5500 rpm and a torque of 280 Nm in the range from 1500 to 4000 rpm. It can be aggregated with a manual or automatic transmission, in both cases with 6 gears. Traction can be 2WD or 4WD, in the second case, the gearbox can only be automatic.
Torres highlights the more unconventional design that SsangYong has taught us over time.
Whether you like it or not, this is a separate conversation and largely depends on taste, but here I clarify that we are talking about an SUV with a length of 4.7 meters with a clearance of 195 mm. The trunk is surprisingly roomy for its segment: from 703 to 1662 liters, depending on the position of the rear seat.
The starting price of SsangYong Torres is 28,950 euros including VAT, full details can be found on the official website.
