Lawyers asked to place Strelkov under house arrest, as he does not intend to hide, and also has health problems.
It has already been reported that Strekov was detained at his home in Moscow on July 21. The court ordered his detention as a security measure.
A criminal case has been initiated against Strelkov for publicly calling for extremist activities.
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Security Service (FSB).
Strelkov is one of the most ardent supporters of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Recently, he has repeatedly criticized the Russian leadership and military command for failures in the battles in Ukraine.
In November 2022, a court in The Hague found Strelkov and two of his associates guilty in absentia of shooting down a Malaysian airliner over the Donbass in July 2014 and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
