Temperatures will rise to 42 degrees Celsius in the coming days, meteorologists have warned, who have issued several red, orange and yellow code warnings for a heat wave, extreme heat and severe thermal discomfort.

On Tuesday, meteorologists issued a red code for extreme temperatures, especially severe thermal discomfort. In the counties of Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Calarasi and in the city of Bucharest, extreme maximum temperatures of 40-42 degrees will be recorded, and temperature discomfort will be especially pronounced.

Also on Tuesday, meteorologists released an orange heat code for the south of Crisana, Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, in the southern half of Moldova and the west of Dobruja, where the maximum temperatures will be fixed at a level of 37-39 degrees. The temperature and humidity index (TIV) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Also in Maramures, Transylvania, in the north of Crisana and Moldova and on the coast, temperature discomfort will be high, and the temperature and humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, for these areas a yellow code will be issued on Tuesday.

The red code for extreme temperatures, especially pronounced thermal discomfort, will be introduced on Wednesday in the counties of Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Calarasi, Ialomita, Braila, Galati, in the west of Constanta county and in the city of Bucharest. Extreme maximum temperatures of 40…42 degrees will be recorded here, and temperature discomfort will be especially pronounced.


In the south of Oltenia, the north of Muntenia, the northwest of Dobruja, as well as in the center and southwest of Moldova, orange heat will be observed, and the maximum temperatures in general will be 37…39 degrees, so the temperature discomfort will increase. The temperature and humidity index (TIV) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
