Romanian police chief Benone Matei said Tuesday in Constanta that the May 2 crash, in which two young people died after being hit by a car by a drugged driver, could have been avoided. .

When asked if he intervened so that the young man who caused the accident was left alone for the police, Benone Matei replied: “That’s out of the question.”
The head of the Romanian police added that several unforgivable mistakes were made in the case of the May 2 accident.

He added that in cases of murders and extreme violence, the reaction of the Constanta policemen was very good.
“From the point of view of the operational situation, this is a difficult operational situation, but so far we have managed to achieve maximum efficiency. You know perfectly well that both in cases of murders and in cases of extreme violence, the reaction of the system and the reaction of the policemen of Constanta was very good,” Matei also conveyed to Benone.
