Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian anti-corruption police Alexei Chernykh died on August 26 while mowing the lawn at his house in the village of Shchetinovka, according to the Baza Telegram channel, which is associated with the Russian security services.

On the same day, August 26, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov accused Ukraine of involvement in a drone attack on the village of Shchetinovka, which killed a “civilian.” The governor did not name the dead.

Ukraine has not yet claimed responsibility for the drone attack.

On August 21, the Baza channel reported that Chernykh had died “after a Ukrainian drone dropped shells on his garden in Shchetinovka.”

“Mr. Alexei got a day off and was mowing the lawn at that time,” the Baza channel reported.

The governor of Belgorod accused the Ukrainian armed forces of dropping an “explosive device from an unmanned aerial vehicle” on a civilian “cutting the lawn near his country house.” The man died from shrapnel wounds, Governor Gladkov said.

In his message on Telegram, Mr. Gladkov also expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
