A total of 13 people were killed in the attack, including the soldier’s wife and two of his children, officials said on Sunday. Eight children were among the dead.
The soldier returned home from duty in another village and found family and community members attending his son’s funeral, said local village chief Baraka Muguwa Oscar. “This soldier did not like that his son (..) was buried without his consent and in his absence,” Oscar said.
Search parties, which include Congolese military personnel, have been deployed to the country since the tragic attack. The purpose of the operational-search operation is to detain a serviceman who fled the scene after the attack.
