Simona Halep’s first interview after the doping scandal: “Many sleepless nights…”
Simona Halep (1138 WTA) made her first public appearance since her doping ban.
On Tuesday, August 29, it will be a year since Simona Halep (31) stopped playing on the court.
“I thought it was very unfair”
An athlete from Romania gave an interview to Eurosport, in which she spoke about the “nightmare” that she had to endure during this period.
“An extremely difficult year, with many states of anxiety, with many sleepless nights, with great rejection of what is happening. It seemed to me very unfair. At first I did not know how to manage, but now I have come to terms with the fact that this could be a failure in my career. I have to accept everything as it is, be strong and look ahead, quite positively.” Halep told the source.
“One day there will be a verdict, and it will do me good”
The former world leader continues to look to the future with a hint of optimism, convinced that the verdict of the authorities in the doping case will be good in his case.
“To take the positive side of the problem. To think that I am healthy and that one day a sentence will be passed and that it will do me good. I never imagined that something like this could happen in my career. Only I know how careful I was with any drugs and supplements. They were always controlled, checked and always certified”, Halep added.
Currently, the Romanian is still temporarily suspended after testing positive for Roxadustat during the US Open 2022 tournament. Simona Halep is awaiting the final verdict from the Sports Resolutions Tribunal.
