In the last 16 matches of the first round of the Grand Slam tournament, Šwiontek lost an average of only 4.2 games per game.
In the second round, Šviontek will face the representative of Australia Daria Sevilla (322nd WTA).
Number ten Czech Karolina Muchova also won the first round convincingly, beating Australia’s Storm Hunter (WTA 158) 6-4, 6-0. On the other hand, eighth seeded Maria Sakari, a Greek, fell through with a score of 4-6, 4-6 recognizing the superiority of Spaniard Rebecca Masarova (WTA 71).
The US Open, which is the last Grand Slam of the season, runs until September 10.
