This Sunday, June 19, the voting for the second round of the presidential elections is taking place, which has generated a lot of tension in recent weeks. Even some personalities from the international show business have spoken about the situation in the country.
Roger Waters, bassist and co-founder of the legendary British band Pink Floyd, was no exception and sent a message of support to Gustavo Petro. In addition, he took advantage of the moment to dedicate some emotional words of encouragement to all Colombians.
“I join the Colombian people, to international solidarity movements and activists for democracy and human rights to demand an end to political violence, which takes lives every day and makes these elections in Colombia a mockery”, he initially indicated.
Then, he added: “That the voice of the Colombian people be heard and respected in these elections. May the voice of the people usher in a new dawn that reflects the needs and desires of all, and not the corrupt ruling elite. With love, his brother, Roger Waters.”
It should be mentioned that this is not the first time that the renowned English artist has referred to the political and social situation in the country, since last year he supported the different demonstrations that took place within the framework of the National Strike.
