Hector Moreno assured that the Qatar World Cup 2022 It will be his last tournament with the Mexican team and will end his career with the Tricolor after the World Cup.
“If you asked me that in 2018 I would have said it was my last World Cup, at 34 years old I could see very far, but now in nine months that is my dream. It will surely be my last tournament with the National Team, I don’t see myself thinking about the following summer in a Gold Cup, losing the vacations I can have,” Moreno said in an interview for Marca Claro.
Moreno and the National Team will seek that the following matches of the Play off give them the pass for the World Cup, in addition to being a showcase to observe new players in the coming dates.
“In these three games we could practically close the pass, it is fundamentally to be able to do that so that the coaching staff can see players that they do not know on the next FIFA date, give them the opportunity to debut, play a World Cup Qualifier that is something complex. It is essential have good results in these three games”, he commented.
The center-back minimized the criticism against the Mexican team and assured that there will always be voices against it despite the results.
“There will always be criticism. Fortunately, I have been in the National Team for more than 10 years, there are times when, due to results, forms of play, casualties in the game, the criticism is there. I have always commented: ‘I prefer to be criticized for being part of the national team than not to be criticized and not to be part of the national team.’
