Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin and his wife, along with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife, visited the Vietnam National University in Hanoi, exchanged and dined with students on the occasion of the Prime Minister of Singapore’s official visit to Vietnam.

Attendance at a reception in honor of Prime Minister Pham Min Chin and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Hanoi National University has Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, President of Hanoi National University Le Quan.

This is the fifth visit of Mr. Lee Hsien Loong to Vietnam as Prime Minister. This shows the closeness and solidarity of Singapore and Vietnam.

This visit is also part of a series of events organized by both sides to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.

During the exchange, students from the Vietnam National University in Hanoi expressed their interest in Singapore’s education, science, technology and innovation policy, the digital economy partnership and the green economy between the two countries.

Many students are also interested in the valuable experience and lessons of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on the way to learn and prepare for success, as well as on the policy of developing cooperation between the universities of Singapore and Vietnam.

Hai Long, an English student at the Hanoi National University of Foreign Studies, wants to know how Singapore is applying cutting-edge science to keep the environment clean and beautiful.

Mr. Lee Hsien Loong said that Singapore is trying to enable people to travel by public transport by reducing the number of private vehicles. This is a way to reduce environmental pollution. But what is more important is the behavior of people with the environment.

He shared that there are many media campaigns in Singapore urging people to respect the principles of protecting the environment. This is also of interest to the education of students in schools.

Preservation of the environment is reflected in the specific activities of young people, such as planting trees, taking care of daily watering, or designing the environment together with the family in green and clean families…

However, there are global problems such as global warming, climate change. Singapore tries to promote this responsibly through concrete activities and cooperation with countries.

Tu Hong, another student specializing in English pedagogy, asked: “What standards do we need in terms of knowledge and skills to meet the current human resource requirements in the context of the development of artificial intelligence?”.

Mr. Lee Hsien Loong said that the first and most important thing is that young people should study very well, master the knowledge in their chosen fields, and never stop learning, because the world will always change. Constantly observing and preparing for further learning and renewal is the path to success in the current context.

Opportunities for the youth of the two countries for exchange, study and work

Speaking to students at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin said that Vietnam is paying more attention to digital transformation and green transformation. Among them, the solution to combat climate change is a global problem that the entire population should pay attention to.

It is also a need for global cooperation and deeper cooperation with Singapore, a country with a long track record of digital and green transformation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin said that during his visit to Singapore, the two governments signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of digital and green transformation. In particular, cooperation is related to the database infrastructure, the experience of digital governance in Singapore.

Regarding the green transition, the two countries will cooperate on the use of green energy, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, which is an advantage for Vietnam.

But in order to operate well, it is necessary to have technology, financial and human resources, management capacity… Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin confirmed that this is a strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore in the near future.

In response, Mr. Li Hsien Loong said that the cooperation between the two countries is open and mutual support. This is the legal basis for creating favorable conditions for young people of the two countries to travel to study and work, to encourage talented people, entrepreneurs and scientists to unite to achieve the goals of cooperation, which the two countries agreed on.

On this occasion, under the testimony of Prime Minister Pham Min Chin and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and Nanyang Technological University (NTU-Singapore) signed a university-to-university cooperation agreement for the exchange of staff, faculty, students, members, and researchers.

After the student meeting Prime Minister Pham Min Chin and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had lunch with students Hanoi National University in the cafeteria of the University of Foreign Studies.

Here, the two prime ministers enjoyed famous traditional Vietnamese dishes such as ban cuon, bul thang, Hanoi spring rolls, and more.

During the meal, the heads of government of the two countries and students had a sincere and interesting exchange of views. Student Hanoi National University introduced the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, to the culinary beauty and cultural treasures of Vietnam through food.
