The Cubans put 1 × 0 in the bottom of the first inning when forward Roberto Álvarez hit a triple off Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Jesús Macuto and Cuban fourth goalkeeper Pedro Revilla (3-of-3, 2 2B, 3 CI) shoved Álvarez with a cannonball into right field.
Revilla returned to serve as the team’s tug in the fifth inning by bringing Álvarez with his second tubey of the day, this time on the bases by mistake, and Roidel Martínez, in circulation for a single to the left field.
Cuba notably improved its offense compared to the two previous encounters. Eriel Sánchez’s troop hit eight hits, but left six runners in circulation. A clear opportunity to push wasted by Jorge Yoan Rojas in the fourth inning as he gave up the third out with second and third occupied.

He showed economy of pitches by using 70 pitches, of which 48 were strikes. Pinar del Río Frank Abel Álvarez retired the last three Venezuelan batters in line for his second save of the tournament.
