One Dead in Early Morning Crash as Vehicle Hits Tree and Catches Fire in Geary County

An accident that occurred early on Sunday morning in Geary County resulted in the death of one individual, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Crash data indicate that Richard Roberts, a twenty-year-old resident of Florida, was traveling north on United States Route 77 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle he was driving slid into the ditch. Once he hit a tree, Roberts continued driving in the ditch until he finally stopped.

After the collision, the vehicle allegedly took fire, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. As a result of the collision, Roberts passed away.

At the time of the collision, Roberts was occupying a seatbelt in his vehicle.
