No Charges for Driver After Arlington High School Senior Falls Off Jeep in Viral Game Accident

The driver will not face criminal charges in the case of a North Texas high school senior who fell off a Jeep while playing “Senior Assassin,” Arlington police said in a news release on Wednesday, May 14.

Isaac Leal, 17, was badly injured and hospitalised on life support following the tragedy.

On April 20, Leal, a baseball player at South Grand Prairie High School, and other students were playing the viral game “Senior Assassin,” in which kids shoot water guns at each other.

During the game, Leal climbed into the back of a Jeep Wrangler driven by another youngster, authorities said.

Leal rode in the rear of the Jeep through a quiet neighbourhood in the 6500 block of Devine Drive in Arlington. According to authorities, Leal fell off the Jeep and hit his head shortly after turning into Setter Drive.

According to authorities, the driver came to a stop and contacted 911.

Only EMS responded to the location to treat what was described as an unconscious person, and Leal was brought to the hospital, according to authorities. Arlington police said they started investigating on May 3 after learning that the accident involved a vehicle.

The teen’s relatives informed KTVT-TV that they sought a criminal probe into the accident.

According to the announcement, after analysing the evidence and discussing with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, officers determined that no crime was committed and that no charges would be filed.

According to authorities, there is no evidence to back up assertions that the Jeep driver was driving recklessly or purposely attempting to force Leal to fall off the vehicle.

“This was a tragic accident and our hearts go out to everyone involved,” the police tweeted.

According to the announcement, Arlington police encourage parents to discuss viral trends or issues with their children, as well as have “frank conversations” with them about the hazards they may pose.
