National Party recognizes the triumph of Xiomara Castro in Honduras | News

The National Party on Tuesday recognized its defeat in Honduras against the Libertad y Refundación (Free) Party and welcomed the victory of the representative of this political body, Xiomara Castro, who has more than 20 points of advantage in the presidential elections.

“Today you can see the climate of peace and tranquility that exists in the country, although the National Party has not been elected at the head of the Government,” Central Committee Secretary Kilvett Bertrand told local media.

“We wish the best of success to those who have won the elections,” he added.

Castro leads the presidential election counts after counting more than half of the total votes.

According to the official page of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Honduras, with 52.07 percent of the records transmitted, representing 9,526 out of 18,293, Castro leads the count with 970,959 votes, that is, 53.49 percent.

In second place is the presidential candidate of the National Party, Nasry Asfura, who has received 616,828 votes, representing 33.98 percent of the total cast.

In these elections the participation of 68.18 percent of the summoned electorate, 5,182,425 people, was registered.
