A collision involving multiple vehicles that occurred close to the Hinsdale Oasis has resulted in the blocking of several lanes of Interstate 294, which has caused significant backups in both directions for the beginning of the afternoon rush hour on Wednesday.
On southbound Interstate 294, just south of the Hinsdale Oasis, as reported by the Illinois State Police, a collision involving two vehicles occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m.
The local police department reported that at least one individual was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
Although backups were reported in both directions as the police continued their investigation, the collision caused at least two lanes on the southbound side of the roadway to be closed.
Further information regarding the circumstances that led to the collision was not immediately made public.
According to the police, an investigation is currently underway.
