BEAVERTON, Ore – The guy detained during a Beaverton road rage crash that was captured on camera last week has been charged with attempted murder.

Samir Helio Pazzoto-Filho was arraigned on Tuesday in Hillsboro’s Washington County Circuit Court. He is now facing accusations of attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, unauthorized use of a weapon, felony hit-and-run, and careless driving.

The allegations come from a road rage incident involving a blue Kia Carnival minivan and a motorcycle, which was captured on video. Police said Pazzoto-Filho was driving the minivan when he collided with the motorcycle and fled the scene.

On the evening of May 5, police apprehended Pazzoto-Filho at his residence in Washington County along Highway 26 following a community tip. His vehicle was discovered with damage that appeared to be the result of the crash.

The biker had significant injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

In court Tuesday, the victim read an impact statement and stated that Pazzoto-Filho was “grinning right before he jerked his wheel.”

A judge set bond at $250,000 with conditions such as home arrest, GPS tagging, and no driving privileges.

His next court date is scheduled for May 20.

Police suspect Pazzoto-Filho drove carelessly in the days leading up to the incident. Anyone with information on his reckless driving can call the Beaverton Police Department at 503-526-2261.
