Mar del Plata Festival 2022: Panorama reviews

Here, reviews from the various non-competitive sections of the festival, including titles by Albert Serra (photo), Jafar Panahi, Hong Sangsoo, Mia Hansen-Løve, Leonardo Favio, Jonas Mekas, and Jean-Luc Godard, among many others.

In addition to the competitions (whose criticism will be uploaded to another post), the Mar del Plata Festival has a varied series of non-competitive sections that fall under the “umbrella” of what is called Panorama. In Authors and Authors there are some films by established filmmakers, in New Authors and New Authors those who are on their way to being (or not), there are Galas, national films out of competition, sections dedicated to music, genre cinema and a diverse group of retrospectives, spotlights and special functions.

Here you will see the list of all the titles of the different sections and, by clicking on the links, you will be able to go to the reviews that I have already written on the site about 33 films before the festival began. There are other films, classics (you’ll see what they are) that I haven’t written about here but that are obviously recommended, in particular the three films by Leonardo Favio that will be seen here as a tribute to the director. So I leave you with the list, the reviews, the recommendations and the unknowns.
