A two-vehicle collision that occurred in Swan Valley on Saturday afternoon resulted in the transportation of a man to the hospital.
According to a press release issued by the Idaho State Police, the incident took place at 2:38 p.m. local time on United States Highway 26 near milepost 386. It involved a total of four individuals, one of whom was the driver of a black GMC Yukon, and the other three were passengers in a semi-truck.
A man from Farmington, Utah, who was 46 years old and driving a Yukon, was apparently traveling west on Highway 26 when the accident occurred. The driver, who remained nameless, crossed the middle line, which resulted in a collision with the semi-truck.
One of the drivers of the semi-truck was a man from Idaho Falls who was 44 years old. He was accompanied by two passengers: a woman who was 52 years old and also from Idaho Falls, and a child who was four years old.
There were several injuries sustained as a result of the crash, although everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts. Everyone who was riding in the semi-truck escaped with only minor injuries. A local hospital received the driver of the Yukon after he was evacuated there. It is now unknown what his status is as of Sunday morning.
The collision caused substantial delays in the flow of traffic. Highway 26 remained closed as of 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, after having been closed for three hours while emergency workers were on the scene following the incident.
In addition to the Idaho Transportation Department, the Swan Valley Fire Department was also able to assist with the reaction.
Investigation into the collision is still ongoing by the authorities.
