Police fatally shot a man suspected of stabbing a lady to death outside a North Hollywood elementary school on Friday afternoon, according to police.

At 1:54 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a complaint of a domestic violence incident in progress in the 7800 block of Beck Avenue. Officers arrived to find a woman with stab wounds, according to authorities.

Officers challenged and eventually shot the male suspect, according to the LAPD. The full circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately known Friday night.

According to authorities, both the guy and the woman were transferred to nearby hospitals and died as a result of their injuries. Their identity has not been revealed.

According to KTLA, the incident occurred as students were playing outside at adjacent Arminta Street Elementary School. According to the station, after hearing gunshots, students and staff went inside, and the school was placed on lockdown.

“When my wife called me, she was panicking,” said neighbourhood homeowner Walter Lorente to the station. “She had heard the gunshots from down the street. She ran out, and the kids were all fleeing, panicked, and it was terrifying.”

According to police data, this is the 12th time a person has been shot by the LAPD this year.
