Major Crash Near Aberdeen Leaves Two in Critical Condition, U.s. 15-501 Closed for Hours During Emergency Response

A crash on the outskirts of Aberdeen on Wednesday night left two drivers critically injured. Around 9:30 p.m., a crash occurred on U.S. 15-501 at its intersection with Heflin traffic, causing extensive damage, traffic closures, and the transportation of two persons by ambulance.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they discovered a Ford F-150 with major front-end damage in the roadway and a Honda Civic with significant front-end damage just off the road.

Due to severe weather and storms in the region, medical helicopters were unable to respond. Both victims, the female driver of the Honda and the man driver of the Ford, were the only occupants of their vehicles and were brought to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital via EMS.

U.S. 15-501 was closed in both directions for an extended period while emergency services worked on the incident.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the incident, and no other information has been released at this time.

Aberdeen Fire and Rescue, Pinebluff Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were among the agencies who responded.
